I have recently been voted into the position of being one of the co-presidents for the Stratford Junior Women's Club. Which is both thrilling and scary.
I've been on the Connecticut Junior Women (www.cjw.org) Board for the past year, which has taught me so much more about Juniors. Last night we had our September Board Meeting and Workshop. This is an opportunity for members of any club in the state of Connecticut to meet other women from other clubs and get ideas from them and Board members.
While I did a presentation on Public Relations, I was really looking forward to the President's Rap with the current CJW Director Teena Bruneau. In just 40 minutes she gave down and dirty ideas for all aspects of any nonprofit club: How to get new members and retain the existing ones, quick ideas for fundraisers, the best ways to publicize your club. It really felt like a taste of all the other workshops. If only I'd had a chance to hear all of the Board members talk.
Of course this morning I emailed my co-president, a seasoned Junior club member, and spilled forth just a few of the ideas I left with last night. She replied with other ideas that I had had but decided to wait. No need to overwhelm her with my enthusiasm. I may only be a few short weeks into my new role, but I can already see things changing a little. I just hope that the existing club members can find renewed interest in the club.
Thanks!
Heidi
co-president
